autozone car parts

should i buy a 1983 cutlass with a 402 big block engine?
if i did buy this car where do i go buy replacement parts for it? can i go into autozone, murrays, etc for parts? and what do i tell the person inside since its not the original engine that came with the car? or are these engines built to last forever?
hes asking $4000 for it its in mint condition with fresh paint and edelbrock parts.
there is no smog test in chicago. and what do i tell the parts store if that isnt the original engine that came in the car?
Depends on how much trouble you want to go through to find engine parts. Auto Zone, Murray’s etc will ask you for the make, model and engine of your car. If their computer does not list a 402 engine as an original engine, they will not be able to help you. If you know the make and model of the car that had the 402 engine as OEM they may be able to help you.
No engine is meant to last forever and you will need to replace spark plugs, plug wires, water pump etc at a minimum.
