Audi traces its origins back to 1899 and August Horch. When Horch was forced out of the company he had founded, he started a new company in 1909 called Audi which was a Latin translation of Horch (in German: ‘Listen’). From the start, the company’s policy was to build cars mainly for the luxury category.
Since 1932 the Audi emblem has been the ‘four rings’, which represent its amalgamation with DKW, Horch and Wanderer to form Auto Union AG in Chemnitz, Germany. Audi supplied a wide range of passenger vehicles during the 1930s – from motorcycles to luxury saloon cars. Volkswagen bought the company in 1964. In the 1980s, Audi dominated world rally with the Audi Quattro, and has had huge success in the Le Mans 24 Hour with its R10 prototype racer.
Audi’s progressive designs and groundbreaking technology combine to make cars which are innovative yet stylish. The current crop of production vehicles from the Audi A3 to the Audi R8 supercar has propelled Audi to record sales during the 21st century. Audi have produced every kind of car imaginable: from executive cars such as the Audi A4 and Audi A6 to sports cars such as the Audi TT – from the Audi Q7 full size SUV to the Audi A2 super-mini and they show no signs of slowing down.
DID YOU KNOW?
In March 1980, the introduction of the Audi Quattro four-wheel drive sports coupe caused a sensation on the Audi stand at the Geneva Motor Show. The Quattro was the first high-performance vehicle with four-wheel drive, and is regarded as the first successful application of four-wheel drive on a road car.
In the late 1980s, a report by the U.S. TV show, “60 Minutes” rigged an Audi to perform in an uncontrolled manner. The report impacted Audi sales badly causing the company to rename the 5000 model the 100/200 in 1989
In 1994, the launch of the first Audi A8 with an all-aluminium body was a world first for a passenger car.

Couple of months ago I did test drove the new Audi R8. The new R8 is within my budget and I feel German cars are more reliable than any other cars. Why did I choose this car? I absolutely love the way it looks and I also feel that the new Audi R8 is a wonderful machine full of speed and power, exactly what I am looking for. German cars not only Audi have been known for their power, safety and reliability and when I saw the first Audi R8 in 2006 I knew what I wanted to buy it. Since then I have worked very hard to save money for this car.
Audi R8 was designed by a private company Audi AG’s and is similar to the Gallardo (Lamborghini). Now would you not want to buy this car? It is similar to Gallardo and also thousands of pounds cheaper than the Gallardo. The pick up speed of this car is crazy with a 4.2 litre V8 engine. It has a power output of 414bhp now that is fast. When you get to the third gear the maximum power kicks in and then you realise what it is like to drive a powerful motor.
I was always in love with Audi cars ever since I saw my uncle’s Audi A4 Saloon. In reality German cars are loved by my family, whether its VW, BMW, Audi or Mercedes. Few have BMWs, VWs and some have Audis. No the youngsters do not have BMWs and Audis but now may be I can be the first teenager in my family to buy an Audi from his own money. When growing up I had three dreams, a dream job, a dream house and a dream car. My car dream is coming true now two to go. After that all I will need to do is find an insurance company which will insure the car for a low price, which might be a tough thing to do.
Audi is certainly the top motor industry of the World. Audi has been a part of Volkswagen since 1964. The German manufacturer produced and launched the first Audi 60 range in 1965. Now in 21st century, they have recently build a super car, the new stunning Audi R8 and if you compare this to the 1960’s Audi range you will see the difference between times and machines.
The German cars have always been know for their speed, power and reliability. Cars link BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Opel, Porsche, Volkswagen and Smart are all German cars. Audis are powerful, consistent, reliable and fast. Audi A3, Audi A4 and Audi A4 Saloon are the most common Audi cars driven all around the World and certainly in the UK. When looking to buy a new car what do people look for? Here are some things that they look for:
Offers
Offers and deals certainly has to be at the top of the list. When buying a car people look for the best possible financial option, some even search for 0% finance cars.
Price
A lot of people have a certain budget and the car needs to fit their budget. They will only buy a car that is under their budget. Reliability, speed, power doesn’t matter to some people with a certain budget. People also look at if the car is economical to run or not. For example to see whether Audi Q5 is going to be expensive to run than Audi A3
Reliability
It is vital to buy a car with good reliability. Most people do not realise this, they just go for something which is under there budget that looks good.
Reviews
Reading reviews of the cars or watching videos are certainly one of the things that people do nowadays. There are several car review sites out there which give you great advice and feedbacks on the car you are looking to purchase. You will also be able to read the feedbacks of the general public who have already been driving the car.
An Audi is said to be a very good car to buy. However apart from the comfort and style they might not be the best driving car on the market. In today’s world though, the Audis are making a return with great cars coming through. One of the great driving cars coming forth from Audi for sale is the Audi RS4. The car arrives with sporty arches and much bigger alloy wheels than the standard car. Even when you peer through the window, the cut of the seats shows this car means business from the start.
Some of the previous generation of Audis cars looked as though they meant business. If you looked at the Quattro’s that used to dominate the rally scene back in the heyday. However just like some of the new Audi A3 cars, the RS4 looks like they have got the mix just right. The RS4 looks more subtle in its looks unlike the Quattros of yester-year, however when you get in and turn the key, you hear that monster V8 burble into action, you know there is something definitely going on. The seats just soak you up as you hold on to the steering wheel and plant your foot to the floor, then you know your driving something special.
This motor has a six speed gearbox which is perfectly matched to take you through the rev range quickly and the Quattro system making you grip the road superbly. According to Audi this car will take you from 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds and get you onto an outlandish speed of about 155 miles per hour. This car has brilliant power to weight ratio with a 250bhp per ton engine.
This new Audi features a new deep grille and splitter and aero dam so when you look in the mirror you know something different is coming.
Britain’s road infrastructure is spreading fast with many more charge-up point across the country.
London is of course the first place where everything kicked off but now there are other places who have started up the idea. Brighton is the next place in which cars are going to see a bit of electric activity. Read the rest of this entry »
